TRANSPONDERS: Introducing Trackside Transponders

Lightweight, long-life, accurate.
The new Trackside Transponder is powered by an internal battery.  It never needs to be recharged.  The racer wears the transponder around the ankle on the outside of the boot.  A strap is provided with each transponder for easy mounting.

A single Transponder should not be shared by racers.  Each racer should have his/her own transponder.  The Trackside software provides a data entry field for the user to enter the transponder id for each racer.  When the racer registers for the race, they will need to give the promoter the ID of the transponder they will use for the event.  The user then enters the ID the same as they would enter the bike number for the racer.  When that transponder passes the finish line, the software will know exactly who the racer is.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
In Trackside Software, each racer is entered into one or more classes and has a transponder number associated with each entry.  At the finish line, there will be an antennae buried 6 inches below.  When the transponder passes over the antennae, a message is sent to the computer as to which transponder passed and the exact time of its passing.  The software then looks to see who the racer was and calculated which place the racer is in.  At the end of the event, the user tells the software that the race is over and the software does a final calculation of each racers placement for final results.

WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?
The Trackside Transponder is pictured below.  Along with your transponder, you will get an elastic strap to mount the transponder around your ankle.  The transponder can be mounted anywhere on the racer below the knee.  It is best to wear the transponder the entire race day to ensure you do not forget to put your transponder on before your race.
